n 2011 it was reported by UNFAO that one third (1/3) of food produced for human consumption is lost or wasted globally, which amounts to about 1.3 billion tons per year.
The hospitality and tourism sector accounts for 8% of the world’s carbon emissions, including the hotel sector contributing to 1% (source UNWTO). With over 700,000 hotels and resorts worldwide, worth over $570 billion, the industry is thriving and continues to expand its footprint
