The 2023 finals of The Sustainable Hospitality Challenge, hosted by The Bench and generously sponsored by NEOM Hotel Development, culminated in an exciting awards ceremony at the prestigious Future Hospitality Summit in Abu Dhabi. The spotlight of the event shone on the triumphant team from Politecnico di Milano, as they unveiled their visionary project, “HÒSTRAKA,” an innovative sustainable diving and sea experience resort.
This year’s competition placed a strong emphasis on sustainability, design, and market readiness. The winning team’s exceptional performance earned them the coveted opportunity to present their project at the upcoming WTTC Summit in Rwanda, a significant platform for global exposure and collaboration.
Looking ahead, SHC 2024 is set to expand its reach with regional semi-finals in Bangkok, Miami, and Switzerland. This expansion aims to foster interdisciplinary innovation and drive real-world impact in the ever-evolving hospitality industry.
Glenn Mandziuk, CEO of the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance and a respected jury member, was effusive in his praise for the winning project and the participating teams. He lauded their imaginative thinking, creativity, and unwavering dedication to sustainability. Mandziuk highlighted that the winning team’s concept, distinguished by its scalability, well-defined market strategy, compelling presentation, and stunning visuals, left a lasting impression. He envisions their project making a significant impact, not only in the Middle East but worldwide.
In his closing remarks, Mandziuk congratulated all the teams and emphasized how the innovation of the younger generation is propelling the pursuit of Net-Positive Hospitality, ushering in a brighter and more sustainable future for the industry
