The Green Lodging Report and why we like it?

What is the Green Lodging Report?

The Green Lodging Report is a comprehensive assessment and benchmarking study that evaluates sustainability practices in the hotel industry. It involves hotels of various sizes and types across multiple countries participating to assess their sustainability performance and compare it with their peers. The report provides insights into global and regional adoption of sustainable practices, offers case studies, and highlights best practices. It also offers guidance for hotels working towards sustainability criteria set by organizations like the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). The Green Lodging Report helps hotels identify areas for improvement, track progress, and stay aligned with the growing demand for sustainable travel.

What’s in the report?

27,000 hotels of all sizes and types across 54 countries participated in the 2022 GLTR and benchmarked their performance against peers. The Green Lodging Trends Report offers hotels the opportunity to assess their sustainability practices and compare them with others in the same region or asset class.

Participating hotels pay a small fee for participation based on the number of rooms and then receive a complimentary, confidential benchmarking report, enabling them to identify areas for improvement and track progress over time.

The report, published in Q4, highlights global and regional adoption of best practices and includes case studies. It also provides guidance for hotels working towards sustainability criteria set by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC).

The importance of visible sustainability practices is growing, as research shows that a majority of travellers express a desire to travel more sustainably. Investors are also emphasizing risk-based sustainability practices, while more destinations are integrating sustainability criteria or certifications into their programs.
