Key Features

The solution checked and verified on delivery and sustainability standards by Sustainability Kiosk experts

Environmental protection: Our primary objective is to support the UAE Government’s ambitious goal of reducing food waste by 50% before 2030, contributing to the preservation of the local environment.

Business community support: We assist our F&B and Hospitality partners in identifying, selling & delivering surplus food and beverage items that may likely end up going to the landfill as waste if a consumer isn’t found. This helps our partners avoid the costs associated with landfill disposal whilst optimising sustainable practices.

Supporting vulnerable community members: We actively donate unsold items to those in need, combating undernourishment and offering support to less privileged individuals within our community.

Carbon footprint reduction: In order to reduce our partner’s carbon footprint, we plant trees on behalf of our partners and consumers making purchases on the platform. This initiative helps local businesses and consumers alike to mitigate their environmental impact further.

Actionable insights for partners and the government: We offer our partners comprehensive analytics on the volumes of F&B being successfully diverted from the landfill to the consumer, thus preventing unnecessary landfill disposal. Our analytics encompass associated emissions reductions (CO2 & Methane), cost savings/revenue recovery, goodwill community donations, and the number of trees planted as a result of partnering with Rumbella. These insights help demonstrate the progress being made by our business partners in embracing ESG & CSR best practices.

Furthermore, it helps our partners showcase their commitment to supporting the UAE in achieving its sustainability objective of reducing regional food waste by 50% ahead of 2030.

Sustainablity Story

Chris Wilson, Rumbella’s Co-founder grew up in a small town called Kirkliston, on the outskirts of Edinburgh is now the CEO and co-founder of Rumbella, a green start up that partners with businesses to reduce their food waste. Growing up in a single-parent household, finances were tight and food security was a constant challenge. However Chris was fortunate enough to receive a free private education and free school meals through a school trust. It’s this experience that has led Chris to where he is today and made him ‘deeply passionate about ensuring that no other family has to endure such hardships’. He describes Scotland as an ‘incredibly philanthropic place, where the community comes together to support one another’, and why he now finds himself wanting to extend this generosity to any community he finds himself in. This is what drives the passion behind Rumbella and their priority ‘to donate as much food as we can to those less privileged, even if it comes at our own expense.’ Rumbella’s platform enables businesses to sell excess food and beverage items at discounted rates through an intuitive app, offering consumers the opportunity to purchase surplus goods. Currently focusing their business in the UAE they’ve partnered with prominent UAE businesses including Starbucks, Costa Coffee and Radisson Hotels, to tackle the pressing issue of food waste. Rumbella’s ambitious mission is to reduce food waste by 50 percent in the region by 2030. It was only after leaving Scotland that Chris truly appreciated the abundance of nature and clean air he had been surrounded by and is now determined to help preserve that elsewhere as much as possible. “We are committed to preserving the UAE’s environment while supporting our community,” says Chris. The platform tracks businesses’ progress towards Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals, including landfill avoidance, goodwill donations, and tree planting initiatives. Through sustainability promotion, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) advocacy, and innovative technology, Rumbella is spearheading positive change, inspiring others to join the cause.
