A few years ago, a “sustainable hotel” meant a sign asking guests to reuse their towel. Now it means a 19-point audit and a stamp you actually have to earn.
The Dubai Sustainable Tourism (DST) Stamp, launched in 2023 by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), rewards hotels that meet 19 sustainability requirements across gold, silver, and bronze tiers – from energy and water efficiency to waste reduction and staff training. Independent assessors verify the work and nothing is self-reported.
The growth of hotels driving responsible hospitality forward is hard to ignore.
The first cycle, in 2023, recognised 70 hotels.
The second cycle, in 2024, saw that number jump by 83 to 153 hotels.
The Stamp has now released its third cycle of winners: 234 hotels strong, 81 hotels more than the previous year.

This Stamp is all part of a bigger push. DET has been clear that the Stamp is a building block in Dubai’s wider sustainability and economic agenda, feeding directly into the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) and the city’s ambition to be one of the best places in the world to visit, live, and work.
It’s a good reminder that the small, unglamorous changes like a smarter water system, a better-trained team, or a little less waste, are what actually add up to a greener Dubai.
The DST Stamp’s fourth cycle is back this year and it’s raising the bar, expanding from 19 to 27 sustainability requirements. The stakes for hotels just got higher!
